Antalya, Turkey’s main tourist hub on the Mediterranean coast, attracted more than 7.1 million tourists since the beginning of this year, officials said on Monday, reports Anadolu Ajansi (Anatolia News Agency).
This translates to an 11-percent rise as compared to the same period last year.
Officials also said that hotel bookings are promising for September and October.
Antalya, known as the Turkish Riviera, hosts mostly Russian and European tourists; its year-end target for number of tourists is 10 million.
Turkey was host to 27 million tourists in total in 2009, and aims to welcome a total of 30 million tourists in 2010, which is considered the “year of recovery” in tourism.
