Earthquake Hits Southwest Iran

A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5.3 struck southwestern Iran on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said, but there were no immediate reports of any injuries or damage, reports World Bulletin.

The quake struck 104 miles (167 km) west of the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas shortly after 0200 GMT, the USGS said. Iran is criss-crossed by major faultlines and is frequently hit by earthquakes.
