Russia may resume exports of grain this year, said Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
In his words, the export ban could be lifted after surveying the final results of the harvest and after it becomes clear what resources are available to Russia, reports BBC Russian.
Medvedev’s statement was a pretty big surprise to players in the agriculture market.
Recall that Russian Prime MInister Vladimir Putin earlier had warned that it would be possible to talk about resuming export of Russian grains only after next year’s harvest; that is, not before autumn 2011.
