TIME magazine has published its top 10 list of famous and fateful love triangles. Though not in any particular order, the trio of Prince Charles, Diana Spencer and Camilla Parker Bowles tops the list.
Also making it into this list is the triangle of Ingrid Bergman, Roberto Rossellini and Petter Lindstrom.
According to TIME, less than a decade after playing Ilsa in Casablanca‘s fictional love triangle, Ingrid Bergman was starring in her very own one. Her affair with Italian director Roberto Rossellini would give them a child and America a scandal.
Bergman and her husband, Dr. Petter Lindstrom, divorced, and her Hollywood career stalled during the first half of the 1950s. The vitriol against Bergman was even heard on the floor of the U.S. Senate. Bergman and Rossellini had two more children together but the marriage didn’t last. Around the same time they divorced, the actress went back to winning Oscars.
The story published today also includes famous triangles Elizabeth Taylor, Eddie Fisher and Richard Burton; Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid and Etta Place; and George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Pattie Boyd.
