Turkey to Keep An Eye on ‘Frozen Conflicts’: Davutoglu

As chair country of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Turkey will keep its attention on “frozen conflicts,” said Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Wednesday at a joint press conference with Council of Europe (CoE) Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland and Macedonia’s Foreign Minister Antonio Milošoski, reports Baku-based Trend News Agency.

“As the current chair country of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, certainly we will keep the focus on so-called ‘frozen conflicts.’ Naturally, policies and activities of the CoE will cover these conflicts,” Davutoglu said, responding to a reporter’s question about what contribution Turkey can make to the resolution of frozen conflicts, including Nagorno-Karabakh, during the country’s chair of the Committee of Ministers.

Note that on Nov. 10, the Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers for six months (until May 11, 2011) was passed to Turkey from Macedonia.
