Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan is currently unable to transfer the ownership of Armavia Airlines, Armenia’s national carrier, to his son-in-law, Mikael Minasyan (who also happens to be the Deputy Chief of Staff to the RA President).
Despite the intention to transfer Armavia’s ownership, the current internal political climate, as well as the existing and forthcoming foreign political pressure, will not permit Serzh Sargsyan to implement his intention, reports Jamanak (“Times”).
The local daily notes that “those from outside [i.e. foreign powers] don’t allow him to carry out such serious transactions, due to the current uncertainty in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and internal political life.”
