CoE Human Rights Commissioner to Visit Imprisoned Journalist Pashinyan

Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg, during his Jan. 18 visit to Armenia, is planning to meet with first president of the Republic of Armenia, current leader of the Armenian National Congress Levon Ter-Petrossian.

This information was conveyed to Epress.am by Ter-Petrossian’s press spokesperson, Arman Musinyan.

Hammarberg will also stop by Artik penitentiary to meet with imprisoned journalist and chief editor of local daily Haykakan Jamanak (“Armenian Times”) Nikol Pashinyan.

During Hammarberg’s Armenia visit, the Committee for the Protection of Political Prisoners and Persecuted People is planning on organizing a number of demonstrations, in order to draw attention to the issue of political prisoners in Armenia.
