Caucasus Institute Director Alexander Iskandaryan sees nothing new in Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s speech in Cyprus, particularly the part where he says that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict differentiates from the Cyprus issue in that the Cyprus issue can be resolved on the principle of territorial integrity.
“This is an approach typical of Armenian political rhetoric. In the case of situations relating to any country’s self-determination, whether that be Cyprus, Kosovo or another country, our diplomats often repeat, we don’t agree with working on a domino principle, we have our unique case, and all those existing ways and mechanisms shouldn’t be applied to us,” he said.
