Armenians Among List of Injured in Domodedovo Airport Blast

Russia’s Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development and Ministry of Emergency Situations has published the list of victims in the apparent suicide bomb attack at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport, which occurred at 4:32 pm local time on Monday.

In the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development list of 42 victims, there were no Armenians; however, in the list published by Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, it was noted that Karen Mikhail Galustyan, 41, was taken to Moscow hospital. Galustyan is registered at the Russian city of Krasnogorsk, Moscow Oblast; presumably, he is a citizen of Russia.

According to RFE/RL’s Armenian service (Azatutyun Radio), there are two other Armenian or “Armenian-like” names in the list of injured: Yuri Albert Vardanov, 58, and Gurian Vardan Khachaturov, 65.

On Monday evening, Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had announced that according to preliminary data, there were no citizens of the Republic of Armenia among those dead and injured in the blast.

Russian media say the bomber detonated some 7kg (15lb) of TNT explosives at Domodedovo airport, killing 35 people and injuring more than 100. Many in Russia suspect militants from the North Caucasus of the bombing.
