Armenian National Congress (HAK) member and Armenia’s former foreign minister Alexander Arzumanyan has no conflicts with HAK leader Levon Ter-Petrossian, for whose campaign he was the leader of in the February 2008 presidential election, said Arzumanyan himself, speaking to journalists in Yerevan today.
According to Arzumanyan, such reports by the media are the result of unfounded rumors. “I don’t comment on all sorts of rumors running around. If I had any issues with someone, my 50-year life experience is proof to you, I would publicly speak about it, regardless of the consequences.”
Asked by a journalist then what is the reason for his passivity, he said, “And who’s the active one?”
As an example, journalists cited Aram Manukyan, to which Arzumanyan responded that after getting out of prison, he participated in many demonstrations organized by the opposition.
Armenia’s former foreign minister, to back up his claim, noted that he has never been absent in all the demonstrations in defense of political prisoners that took place in front of the RA General Prosecutor’s office — demonstrations in which “Aram Manukyan and many others could’ve been absent.”
Responding to a question by Epress.am on the venue for the upcoming HAK rally, Arzumanyan said, that will be decided by representatives of the bodies in charge.
“I’m not now included in HAK’s executive body, that is the decision of the executive bodies. I, as a regular participant, will be at the rally, whether that be at Liberty Square, the Matenadaran [Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts] or in Shengavit,” he said.
