7 Azerbaijan Soldiers Shot Dead by Comrade at Base

A soldier has shot and killed seven fellow troops at a military base in western Azerbaijan, reports say.

The victims were all young conscripts, aged 18–19, from different parts of the country and were named by the defence ministry, the News.Az website reported, according to the BBC.

It is not yet clear what the motivation was for the attack on Sunday in the Caucasus republic’s Goygol district.

A criminal case has been launched under Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code article “the deliberate murder of two or more persons.”
