High-Ranking Armenian Police Official Removed from his Post

On Feb. 26, Chief of RA Police Alik Sargsyan signed a decree to dismiss the head of the RA Police Department of Criminal Investigations Hovhannes Tamamyan and chief of Arabkir police department Varazdat Adamyan from their posts, reports News.am, citing police media spokesperson Armen Malkhanyan.

Malkhanyan noted that this morning, on Feb. 28, Tamanyan’s father, Ghukas Tamanyan, died.

Earlier, local daily Jamanak (“Times”) reported that Tamanyan would be dismissed, reasoning that, as a result of evidence provided by Tamanyan, advisor to the National Assembly Chair, former Arabkir district governor Hovhannes Shahinyan’s nephew is being charged with murder.
