“Hamlet Tadevosyan was born on Mar. 13, 1976. He graduated from Yeghvard secondary school, then he was accepted into Yerevan Police Academy, in the military command department. In the same system, after finishing, he worked at Davtashen domestic troops as a battalion commander.

“On Mar. 1, 2008, he was on the part of the street leading to Leo St. from Myasnikyan statue, in the area 65 meters from the [pedestrian] underground passageway to city hall. He was injured from a cluster bomb of exploding bomb fragments. The incident took place on the night of Mar. 1, at 9:18 pm; he was officially proclaimed dead on Mar. 2 at 3:30 am. He has two children: the oldest is a 6-year-old boy, the youngest, a 4-year-old girl. Since he was a soldier, we get financial assistance. They also gave us an apartment in Davtashen.”

Today is the third anniversary of Mar. 1, 2008, when mass protests against alleged electoral fraud, organized by supporters of unsuccessful presidential candidate, first president of the Republic of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrossian, followed the presidential election of Feb. 19, 2008, in Armenia. On Mar. 1, 2008, national police and military forces, called in to disperse the crowds, used “excessive force and violence” which left 10 people dead and many more wounded.
