‘Revolution has Knocked on Armenian Authorities’ Door’: Postanjyan

“A situation has been created in the Republic of Armenia today whereby the revolution that’s happened in different countries has also knocked on the door of Armenia’s authorities. Let them know full well where their adopted policy leads, let them understand what revolt the Armenian population and the people becoming impoverished day by day can manifest, let them know… but they don’t realize,” MP Zaruhi Postanjyan, who supports those protesting against the ban on street trade, told journalists today.

As previously reported, during a protest outside the government building today, police were rough with protestors, which included Heritage Party MPs Postanjyan, Anahit Bakhshyan, and Armen Martirosyan. They seemed to be targeting Postanjyan in particular. During this time, Bakhshyan felt unwell; an ambulance was called to come pick her up.

One of the protesting women asked where Heghine Bisharyan is. “They only sit and make speeches on television.”

A representative of the Ombudsman’s office approached the protestors, who told him what had happened and demanded he pass this on to the newly elected Human Rights Defender.
