Armenian National Congress (HAK) activist Vardges Gaspari is currently in Yerevan police Kentron (central) division. Speaking to Epress.am, he said that after pushing and pulling him at Republic Square, officers picked him up in a police vehicle and brought him to division, not yet saying on what grounds they have detained him.
Note, also present at the police division is Heritage Party MP Larisa Alaverdyan, who’s asked to be allowed, along with an Epress.am journalist, to meet with Kentron division deputy chief Grisha Amirkhanyan. Alaverdyan was granted permission; however, the journalist was not.
Update at 1:20 pm: After leaving the building, Alaverdyan said Amirkhanyan told her Gaspari has not been subject to violence in the police building. The MP noted that she doesn’t see a basis for keeping Gaspari in police custody and hoped that they would release him soon. Amirkhanyan said they’ll “review the case” and make a decision soon.
