Armenia’s Sugar Market to Undergo Inspections as a Result of Price Increases

The monitoring group of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of the Republic of Armenia has noted that price changes recently occurred in the sugar market: in a period of a few weeks, the retail price of this product clearly increased, reports the Commission website.

At its meeting today, the Commission decided to begin inspections in this market. The Commission notes that it will ask import and export companies in the sugar market to provide information regarding their activities, and in particular, provide justifications for raising the rates.

Note, Alex Grig LLC, which belongs to businessman, MP Samvel Aleksanyan, has the monopoly on importing sugar in Armenia.
