Soviet Dissident Raises Money to ‘Radically Change’ Situation in Armenia

The political party Union of National Self-Determination (AIM) is calling on Republic of Armenia citizens and Armenians around the world to make donations to AIM, said Soviet dissident, AIM party leader Paruyr Hayrikyan, speaking to journalists today.

“Securing the minimum preliminary, necessary capital, with which AIM’s Yerevan and provincial offices will begin their activities, will be irrefutable proof that the public is ready to support AIM’s programs to radically change the situation in the country,” he said.

Hayrikyan also noted that this fundraising campaign will give the Union of National Self-Determination the “moral right” to promote the joining of all “healthy” political entities.

“Only this way is it possible, together with other political forces, making the event called elections into real elections, to begin the recovery of our national-political life,” he said.
