The political party Union of National Self-Determination (AIM) party leader Paruyr Hayrikyan, speaking to journalists today, said he’s willing to rally only around the idea of turning Armenia into a democratic country. According to him, “there’s already unity.”
“Well if 6 parties have already joined — Constitutional Rights Union, the Christian Democrats, Yuri Manukyan’s [United] Communist Party [of Armenia], AIM, Aram Sargsyan’s Democratic Party [of Armenia], Rafael Hambardzumyan’s [National United] Oath — you see, there’s unity,” he said.
Asked by Epress.am whether AIM is preparing to respond to the calls of unity made by, for example, the Heritage Party, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) and the Armenian National Congress, Hayrikyan said:
“Why not, why not. We’re already speaking with them; our materials were provided, [though] not yet to all, but the process has begun — we serve everyone. Become acquainted [with our program]; we present a program; after that, we’ll talk.”
