The Armenian president’s press office has confirmed that RA President Serzh Sargsyan has been invited to the United Nations conference in Istanbul.
“The issue of the Armenian president’s participation at the fourth UN Conference [on the Least Developed Countries] is being discussed with the appropriate departments of international agencies in accordance with the rules of work,” said presidential spokesperson Armen Arzumanyan, reports Regnum news agency.
Arzumanyan noted that according to the president’s work schedule, there are no plans to meet with Turkish leaders in the near future. He added that Sargsyan is among several heads of state invited to the UN conference which till take place from May 9–13.
Earlier, Turkish newspaper Zaman had reported that invited to the same event were Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, and the presidents of France and Israel among others.
