The Armenian National Congress (HAK) urges people to participate resolutely in the upcoming Apr. 28 rally, though HAK hasn’t developed any scenarios or actions to take for the rally — these will be determined together with the people during the rally, said HAK coordinator Levon Zurabyan at a press conference in Yerevan earlier today.
“The most desirable and preferable option for us is carrying out all the goals set before us through peaceful talks with the authorities. As the ancient Romans used to say, if you want peace, prepare for war. And this is a war, it really is, and if we want to achieve peace in this war, then we have to prepare and we will prepare for war,” he said.
Speaking about the call made at the last rally to prepare for civil disobedience, Zurabyan said civil disobedience can taken many different forms.
“One of the manifestations of civil disobedience might be moving the rally to Baghramyan Ave. and picketing state agencies, as well as sit-ins of indeterminate terms, boycotting paying taxes — a thousand and one things, but we will decide this together with the people,” he said.
HAK leader Levon Ter-Petrossian’s right-hand man also touched upon comments that described HAK statements as ultimatums, saying they have not yet put forth an ultimatum and it’s something different altogether if their demands have been perceived as ultimatums.
“Believe it, when Ter-Petrossian puts forth an ultimatum, he will do so very clearly, in political language,” he said.
