Turkey Foreign Minister Calls on Armenia to ‘Stop Taking Provocative Steps’

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmed Davutoglu, who participated in the PACE spring session as the head of Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers, expressed his attitude toward Armenia’s plans to open the airport in the capital of the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh, Stepanakert.

Responding to Azerbaijani delegation member Rafael Huseynov’s question on the matter, Davutoglu said that the question of the airport was not discussed at the Committee of Ministers and that the OSCE Minsk Group is currently dealing with this. “If there is a need, then we can definitely discuss this issue,” he said.

“As head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, I would like to note that such provocative actions will not serve to promote the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict. To accelerate the peace talks initiated between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Armenia has to stop taking such provocative steps,” he said, reports News.az, citing APA news agency.
