Yerevan street traders who normally work along Tigran Metz Ave. across the street from Rossiya mall, along with Yerevan City Hall leading trade and services specialist Arman Hovhannisyan, yesterday were scoping the neighborhood for possible areas where they can sell their goods.
Recall, Yerevan City Hall had earlier suggested street vendors procure stalls at the Malatya market; however, speaking to Epress.am, the vendors had said the proposed venue is not a suitable option for them and they don’t believe they’ll be able to sell their goods in large markets.
After speaking to the street traders, another municipality representative said there are spaces in the Malatya market and promised the next day (that is, today) to go to the market with them and find spaces for them. However, the promise was unfulfilled. As told to Epress.am by the street vendors themselves, the representative in question did not visit them today.
Furthermore, they were sure that he wouldn’t come, since this isn’t the first time, they say, that officials haven’t fulfilled their promises. The street vendors also informed Epress.am that they’re preparing to submit a claim to city hall tomorrow in which they’ll be proposing the area surrounding the St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, next to the ice cream vendors, be provided to them.
