Ceasefire Violation Results in Karabakh Villager’s Death: Armenian Defense Ministry

RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs press spokesperson Tigran Balayan issued a statement today on a May 11 incident which took place on the Line of Contact between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan that resulted in the death of Arayik Balasanyan, a resident of Kyuratagh village in the region of Hadrut.

“On the eve of the 17th anniversary of the establishment of ceasefire in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, Azerbaijan committed another provocation, by killing Arayik Balasanyan, a peaceful inhabitant of Karabakh who was involved in agricultural activities.

“By such steps Azerbaijan is opposing not only the logic of the peaceful settlement process but also is striving to maintain the
tensions by all means, making obstacles to the settlement of the issue on the basis of proposals presented by the international community,” said Balayan, according to the press release.
