Son of former Dutch football star Ruud Gullit has been arrested on charges of drug trafficking, reports Radio Netherlands Worldwide.
The 20-year-old was caught red-handed while passing on a package to another youth in the northern Italian town of Lecco near Lake Como. Police grabbed him as he handed over the marijuana.
Police searched Gullit’s house in Perledo on Lake Como and seized more than 300 grams of soft drugs, as well as a packaging device to divide the marijuana into small plastic bags.
Italian media report that Gullit Jr has no criminal record. He was apparently displaying suspicious behaviour in the Lecco area recently, being continuously approached by youth his age.
Former footballer Ruud Gullit was captain of the national team that won the European Cup in 1988 and was also a member of the squad for the 1990 World Cup. He was named European Footballer of the Year in 1987 and World Soccer Player of the Year in 1987 and 1989. He’s currently the manager of Russian Premier League team Terek Grozny in Chechnya.
