Yerevan Mayor Promises Digital Cameras to Residents Who Film Acts of Pollution

Yerevan mayor Karen Karapetyan published a note on his Facebook page in which he promises to give an award to the person who best photographs or films instances of citizens polluting the Armenian capital.

“Dear Yerevan residents,

“I have repeatedly stated that keeping Yerevan clean has to be the duty of each of us. For this reason I am declaring a contest. Post on this page videos shot by you in which you capture the act of your fellow resident polluting the city. Every month, the person who records the worst instance [of polluting the city] will receive a gift: a digital camera and a letter of gratitude from me.

“The best video will be decided by the Yerevan City Hall communal department and on the basis of your considerations related to the video in question,” reads the note.

However, the mayor doesn’t provide details as to how those who pollute the city will be held accountable and disciplined for their actions.
