Bryza Clarifies US Position on Nagorno-Karabakh

The United States makes every effort for a just and peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, said US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza in an interview with Voice of America, commenting on head of the Azerbaijan president’s administration Novruz Mammadov’s statements that the US and international agencies adopt an unfair position on the Karabakh conflict.

“I hold a somewhat different opinion on the issue. From my own experience, I know what efforts our supporters from the US and the Minsk Group are making for the just and peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Naturally, the representative of one of the parties to the conflict would like international partners to work even harder. I often hear criticisms that there no positive results have been achieved within the Minsk Group. In fact, there have been great achievements. For a just settlement of the conflict, fair proposals have been made at the negotiating table. It’s just that these proposals have to be slightly revised. Until the parties reach an agreement, there cannot be a question of an unbalanced approach,” he said, as reported by ANS Press news agency.
