The provisional dates for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku are May 22, 24 and 26, head of the public relations department at Azerbaijan’s public broadcaster told Vesti.az. The venue for the competition has not yet been chosen.
Note that Armenia has not yet officially announced whether it will participate in next year’s contest or not. Earlier, Chair of the Council of Armenian Public Television and Radio Company Alexan Harutyunyan told Epress.am that it was too early to discuss issues related to next year’s Eurovision contest.
“Never has Armenia’s Public TV and Radio Company discussed issues related to the next Eurovision so soon,” he had said.
“When we begin to discuss this issue in the future, the Public Television and Radio Company will inform [the press],” he said.
At the moment, the TV and radio company is focused on issues related to organizing Junior Eurovision in Yerevan this year, Harutyunyan added.
According to Azerbaijani news website News.az, quoting Ictimai TV General Director Ismayil Omarov, the EBU will hold a meeting in Geneva on June 20 in order to discuss the final venue and dates for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, reports ESCtoday.com.
