Yerevan City Hall on the evening of Jul. 12 approved the request submitted by the Armenian National Congress (HAK) to hold a rally in Liberty Square followed by a march on Aug. 2, HAK representative Tigran Arakelyan told Epress.am.
Recall, at the Jun. 30 opposition rally, HAK leader Levon Ter-Petrossian announced that the next rally would be held on Aug. 1, which is the day HAK was founded, but the opposition bloc at its Jul. 6 meeting decided to hold the rally on Aug. 2 instead, since Aug. 1 is a day when families usually visit the graves of their loved ones (and the Monday following Vardavar).
Note, this is the fourth rally held by the opposition group in Liberty Square sanctioned by the authorities.
