US President Barack Obama expressed his gratitude to Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov for his efforts in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
Obama emphasized the US’ commitments in achieving certain results with respect to the framework agreement. As reported by APA news agency, during the meeting in Washington, apart from the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the parties also discussed other bilateral and international issues.
Recall, after the Jun. 24 meeting of the presidents of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan in Kazan, when the conflicting parties blamed each other in disrupting the dialogue, the Russian foreign minister, on behalf of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, visited Baku and Yerevan, where he handed over Moscow’s proposals on settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to the country’s leaders.
Recall as well, on Jul. 7, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan had a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. According to a statement by the Armenian president’s press office, the parties discussed issues related to the current stage of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution process.
