Beautiful Yerevan Project Commences, Aims to Promote Tourism

Yerevan mayor Karen Karapetyan and UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Dafina Gercheva have signed a memorandum of understanding, launching the “Beautiful Yerevan” project which aims to promote tourism in the Armenian capital.

The project plans to improve and light pedestals of monuments and their surrounding areas, repair the appearance of buildings in the city’s different administrative districts and implement a pilot program in a district jointly selected with the UNDP, according to a statement issued today by Yerevan City Hall.

“This year, we paid more attention to exterior improvement. I am convinced that this creates a [good] mood. Investors have greater optimism and, of course, it affects the mood of Yerevan’s tourists and residents. The Beautiful Yerevan project has several goals, and I am sure the will be implemented successfully,” said Karapetyan.
