Executive Producer of the 2011 Junior Eurovision Song Contest Levon Simonyan, Armenian Public Television Music Producer Grigor Nazaryan and head of Junior Eurovision delegations Gohar Gasparyan at a press conference in Yerevan today presented the logo and motto of the 2011 Junior Eurovision Song Context held in Armenia for the first time. The date and venue of the contest is already known: it will take place in the Karen Demirchyan Sport and Concert Complex in Yerevan on Dec. 3.
“As you can see, it represents mountains and music bar equalizer, which symbolizes elevation. Our motto is ‘Reach for the Top’,” said Gasparyan.
The mountains pictured on the logo symbolize Greater and Lesser Ararat, the two peaks of Mt. Ararat.
“I think that anyone, whether he is Armenian, European, someone living in any corner of the world, will see something close to their soul in all this; it’s simply a very powerful mountain,” she added.
According to Gasparyan, so far 12 countries have applied to participate in this year’s Junior Eurovision: Belarus, Belgium, Georgia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, the Netherlands, Russia, San Marino, Sweden, Ukraine. Greece’s and Bulgaria’s participation is being discussed, but this is not yet the final list, say organizers.
Azerbaijan and Turkey have not yet submitted applications to participate, note organizers; however, they have been assured that a safe and peaceful week will be ensured for all participants.
