Former US Ambassador to Armenia John Marshall Evans, upon the invitation of the Civilitas Foundation, has been in Armenia since Sept. 19. Recently, along with former foreign minister of Armenia Vartan Oskanian (who also happens to be the founder and board president of the Civilitas Foundation), Evans met with former president of Armenia Robert Kocharian, reports local daily Joghovurd, citing its own sources. As to what the parties spoke about, the article did not say.
However, Civilitas Foundation Director Salpi Ghazarian refuted the news, saying that “Mr. Oskanian and Mr. Evans did not meet with Robert Kocharian.”
Joghovurd’s sources, however, continue to insist that such a meeting took place.
