Prosecutor General Sends Prime Minister’s Case to Police

The RA Prosecutor General’s Office received Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s appeal to examine the claims in Democratic Liberal Party of Armenia (HRAK) leader Harutyun Arakelyan’s statements and to launch a criminal case according to the statements.

According to the RA Prosecutor General’s press office, the application, as well as Arakelyan’s open letter received by the RA Prosecutor General on Nov. 22, 2011, today were sent to the RA Police General Investigation Department, in order to prepare materials for processing. Along with the prime minister’s application and Arakelyan’s open letter, the fax sent by Arakelyan to the RA Ministry of Justice on Nov. 18 was also sent to the police.

Recall, Arakelyan is accusing the prime minister in embezzling $31 million USD of state funds in the process of the sale of Nairit Plant in 2006 (when Tigran Sargsyan was head of the Central Bank).
