Armenia to Oblige Azerbaijan to Refrain from Shooting, Promises Defense Minister

Armenia’s Ministry of Defense will undertake appropriate action to counteract such activities by Azerbaijan; that is, it will take measures that will oblige the country to avoid sniper shots, Armenian defense minister Seyran Ohanyan told reporters following today’s government meeting, referring to the deaths of Armenian soldiers Aren Simonyan and Mihran Margaryan who, according to the ministry, were fatally shot in separate incidents on Nov. 19 and 20 in Nagorno-Karabakh by Azerbaijani snipers.

Ohanyan said he refers to this practice of Azerbaijan’s very negatively.

“There is a ceasefire agreement, and we always express our willingness in not violating it, to withdraw the snipers, but the Republic of Azerbaijan’s leadership, their military leadership refuse to do this,” he said.
