Former parliamentary speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, in a press briefing at the National Assembly today, said that he is participating in parliamentary meetings and work.
To reporters’ observations that Abrahamyan’s office at the National Assembly is always empty, he said jokingly, “Who said it’s empty? There’s so much paper there.”
Abrahamyan noted that he is also busy with organizing the Republican Party of Armenia’s (HHK) election campaign. To this end, at 6:30 pm today, he will be meeting with HHK marzpets (regional governors), then with the Yerevan mayor, who likewise is a HHK member.
Asked by reporters whether he regrets resigning from the country’s second most prominent position, Abrahamyan responded in the negative, saying he thought about the decision before leaving his post.
Abrahamyan said he isn’t giving any advice to the previously acting and now newly elected National Assembly Chair Samvel Nikoyan.
“We’ve worked together for over three years — he doesn’t need any advice,” he said.
