Serzh Sargsyan Asks Newly Elected Russian President to Visit Armenia

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan today issued a congratulatory message to Vladimir Putin on his election as president of the Russian Federation.

The message reads, in part:

“On behalf of the Armenian people and myself, I sincerely and heartily congratulate you on your election as president of the Russian Federation.

“Your landslide victory in the presidential election testifies to the Russians’ broad and long-term support in your adopted policies on the full course of Russia’s development, the modernization and improvement of the country, and the even greater enhancement of its role and influence in global processes.

“Joining Armenia and Russia is an alliance based on time-tested friendship of the fraternal peoples of our countries.

“In recent years, the development of Armenian-Russian cooperation has achieved significant results and created a significant foundation for the future. And your personal contribution to this is invaluable.

“I am convinced that further expansion of our bilateral strategic cooperation will continue to serve the strengthening of peace, security and stability in the South Caucasus and will allow not only the realization of long-term projects in the economy, interregional cooperation and culture, but also open up new possibilities of international cooperation.

“In the year of two decades of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, I invite you to visit Armenia on an official visit. Your visit undoubtedly will give a new impetus to developing Armenian-Russian alliance on all fronts — for the benefit of our peoples.”
