Armenian National Congress (HAK) deputy chair Levon Zurabyan (pictured) called the meeting with the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) very productive, since the two parties reached agreement on very important issues, Zurabyan told reporters earlier today. Note, the leader of BHK is oligarch Gagik Tsarukyan, while HAK is headed by Levon Ter-Petrossian.
According to him, it's obvious that this meeting will be "the start of further effective deepening [our cooperation]".
"You know that both political parties have spoken about the prospects of political processes — how they see the possibilities of solving the problems of the people. BHK did that at its congress; HAK, at the March 1 rally; and the two parties spoke about the need for consolidation. Naturally, today we discussed this agenda, and whatever decision will be adopted is being adopted in the format of four political parties [HAK, BHK, Heritage Party, and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation] — bilateral contacts have direct impact and help to move the process forward," said Zurabyan.
The HAK deputy chair said that everything was discussed at the meeting: where the country is, where it's heading, and how they see the solution to the problems facing the country. "We didn't hide our point of view: the country is in a deep crisis and the only solution is the removal of [Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan's regime, as well as holding snap presidential and parliamentary elections, resulting in a legitimate government that will be accountable to the people," said the opposition MP.
As to what extent HAK's long-term program coincides with the solutions proposed by BHK, according to Zurabyan, "time will tell; there is a mutual understanding about the first steps."
