Counter-Attack Art Group Member Taken into Custody for Street Photo-Exhibit

Yesterday, the “Counter-Attack” art group member Artak Gevorgyan was taken into custody for organizing a photo-exhibit on the street. Gevorgyan told Epress.am, that they took him into custody near Narek Aleksanyan’s street photo-exhibition on Teryan Street.

The police asked if he, Gevorgyan, placed the photos of the photo-exhibit.  Gevorgyan responded, that he did not, however, the police used physical force to put him in a police car.

“They twisted my hands, sat me in the car, and kept trying to get into my pockets to take out my phone. When I sat down at the Police Precinct, they said “who let you sit down?” and made me stand with my back to the wall. I asked them to release my handcuffs, because my hands were hurting, but in response they tightened it further,” said Gevorgyan.

The activist has been accused on charges of disobeying police orders.

Gevorgyan said, that he is not going to submit a complaint against the police officers' illegal treatment, because he’s confident that complaining against an officer via the police is meaningless.
