Armenia’s EEU Treaty Demanded to be Publicly Discussed by Constitutional Court

The “Union of Informed Citizens” NGO has demanded the Constitutional Court to verbally discuss Armenia’s Eurasian Economic Union’s accession treaty. If the application is accepted, then journalists would have the opportunity to cover the issue at the Constitutional Court.

The EEU accession treaty had been sent on October 25, from the President’s Office to the Constitutional Court, where only after the court’s approval would it be sent to the National Assembly.

The NGO notes that according to the law, international contracts at the Constitutional Court are discussed by written procedures, except for those situations where the contract is presented with large public interests. Hence, with that reasoning, the Union of Informed Citizens are demanding to discuss it verbally.

Earlier, the NGO representatives organized a press conference where they noted that Armenia’s EEU preliminary accession treaty contained unconstitutional points regarding Armenia’s economic sovereignty.
