According to official statistics, during the first 9 months of 2014, Armenia’s 12,457 trade outlets have produced a total of 714,105,400 AMD ($1,725,143) worth of trade. Of the total number, 633,086,500 AMD ($1,529,416) of retail trade was circulated within Yerevan trade outlets. Thus, 90% of overall trade is conducted in Yerevan, writes Zhoghovurd paper and stresses that officially only ⅓ of Armenia’s residents live in Yerevan.
“It turns out, approximately 2 million people in Armenia, who live in the provinces, are implementing very insignificant amounts of trade, essentially it is completely absent. With no exaggeration, this is striking proof of a state tragedy,” writes the paper.
