Having a male child over a female is becoming increasingly desirable in Armenia, moreover, the trend is nearly doubled in rural communities. The following information is of survey results conducted in Armenia by the World Bank, which was presented today in Yerevan.
According to the report, more than 70% of couples in rural communities would prefer having boys, if they were restricted to only one child. While in Yerevan, the situation is a bit different; in the case of being restricted to one child, 45% preferred to have a boy. To note, 60% of potential fathers and 50% of mothers prefer to have a boy. Nevertheless, three times more women did not care about the sex of their future children.
