Today, Pre-Parliament supporter and activist Gevorg Safaryan checked out of the hospital after being attacked on the intersection of Khanjyan and Tumanyan streets the previous night. Safaryan told Epress.am that he feels fine.
Safaryan was attacked yesterday when he was hit by a blunt object to his head. He fell to the ground and received more blows to the head and subsequently fell unconscious.
“I don’t consider this to be an attack against me, but as a way of pressuring the Pre-Parliament. First, it was setting cars on fire, then it was the attack on me. This is the regime’s attempt to pressure and scare us,” said Safaryan. He informed us that he reported the crime and the police are already preparing material for a criminal case.
Pre-Parliament notes that the attack on Safaryan and the arson attack on cars are correlated and are politically motivated. According to their statement, the aggressive acts are against their “The Centennial without this Regime” initiative, which intends to remove Armenia’s current regime from power on April 24th, the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
The Pre-Parliament Movement Press Spokesperson Varujan Avetisyan told Epress.am that the Police considered the 7 cars set on fire to have no connection to each other and they are investigated separately.
“We, of course, believe that one criminal case should be opened because it’s obvious that the arson attacks on all the vehicles were part of the same plan”, said Avetisyan.
