Today, at approximately 9AM, Azerbaijani army special units attacked an Armenian position in the region of Berd, Tavush (province), reported the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
“The Armenian army’s respective subdivisions identified the adversary on time, a battle began, which lasted for half an hour. The adversary suffered losses and retreated without reaching its military objective. However, unfortunately, the Armenian side suffered two losses and one injured. Lieutenant Karen Galstyan and private Artak Sargsyan were killed,” wrote Hovhannisyan.
In the late night of January 22-23rd, the adversary initiated a saboteur penetration on the Karabakh-Azerbaijan line of contact, reports the NKR Ministry of Defense press service. According to the report, the Defense Army’s front line units suspended the Azerbaijani special unit’s advances and held them back to their positions.
“While resisting the adversary, the Defense Army suffered no losses. Preliminary information shows the Azerbaijani side suffered 3 losses,” stated the NKR Ministry of Defense.
Recall, since late Monday night, January 19, there have already been two reports of Azerbaijani attacks on NKR positions leading to Armenian deaths. 19-year old Private Suren Pilosyan died from a bullet wound near a southern military base in Karabakh during a late night diversant attack.
During another late night battle on January 20th near Karvajar (Kelbajar), a reported attempt to halt an Azerbaijani advance led to the death of Nahapet Asatryan and to wounding of Hovhannes Gasparyan.
