Today, February 19, parents of soldiers who died during peacetime were not allowed to protest in front of the Presidential Palace gates. Last week, police violently dragged protesters across the street from the Presidential Palace, while today they did not even let them cross the sidewalk.
Armenian National Congress MP Aram Manukyan, who was crossing through Baghramyan Ave. at the time, demanded that the police officers explained on what grounds they had used force against the parents of the dead soldiers last week. The officers responded, saying that they had performed their professioanl duties and acted within the law.
“Actions must be humane and moral. Don’t cross the limit. Tomorrow [Serzh Sargsyan] won’t be [the president], but you'll still live in this country. What will you say about what you did that day? Tomorrow, you'll be judged in court based on that video footage,” said Manukyan.

Note, that the soldiers’ parents have decided to organize a march toward Liberty Square and continue their protest there.
