Today, at around 7:30 a.m., workers who were laid off by the Nairit factory closed off the factory’s entrance, not letting in current employees. The factory’s spokesperson Anush Harutyunyan told Epress.am about the protest. According to her, the protesters did not let the Nairit president Ruben Saghatelyan enter either.
The protesters demanded that the factory was closed down entirely and that the government finally fulfilled their demand and provided them a timetable for when they would cover the debt accumulated by their unpaid salaries.
Harutyunyan said that some of the Nairit workers did not agree with the idea of closing the factory entrance.
“We spoke and explained to them that the work of a few people is not supposed to disrupt us. In the end, our issue is with the government. At 10:30 the protesters agreed and decided to open the road and the factory workers went in. Tomorrow, we will gather again in front of the government building,” said Anush Harutyunyan.
