Red Cross Facilitates Communication Between Soldier Who Crossed Border into Azerbaijan and Family

Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross have met with Armenian soldier Andranik Grigoryan who had crossed the border into Azerbaijan in Baku, Epress.am was imformed by the Communication Programs Director of the ICRC Yerevan Office Zara Amatuni. 

According to her, personal information about Grigoryan's family was transferred to the soldier. The Armenian Red Cross also set up a meeting with the soldier’s parents who reside in NKR. The parents also received information from their son.

The organization keeps detailed content of the communications sent between the soldier and his family a secret. 

Recall, that according to the official statement of the NKR Ministry of Defense, contractual soldier Andranik Grigoryan left an eastern military base and crossed into the Azerbaijani side. The soldier left arms and ammunition in his unit.

The soldier’s father told Azatutyun.am that his son had issues while serving. According to the father, the last time Andranik came home, he was very reluctant and left back to the military base that way. The parents were unable to convince Andranik to talk over the phone about his situation. Ararat Grigoryan said that his son asked the base’s commanders to change his place of service. 

The Grigoryans' live in the village of Berdashen in the Martuni region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
