In the first half of 2015, the Armenian Armed Forces and the NKR Defense Army have had 34 military deaths resulting from 28 incidents, an increase of 12 deaths compared to the same time frame of 2014, the Helsinki Citizens Assembly Vanadzor Office said in a report issued on Thursday, July 2.
According to official data, 22 of the 34 registered deaths occurred due to ceasefire violations, 3 due to unfortunate accidents, 2 murders (1 intentional murders, 1 violation of firearm regulations), 1 breach of combat duty or military duty, 2 from health issues and non-proper medical care, 1 gun accident, and 4 suicides (according to criminal case assessment).
The report notes that within the last three years, deaths from ceasefire violations have significantly increased.
In the first six months of 2015, the number of deaths due to ceasefire violations (22) has already come close to the number of deaths from ceasefire violations in the entire year 2014 (26), the report said.
