The 52 life-term prisoners at the Nubarashen penitentiary who declared a hunger strike on Monday urging the Armenian authorities to review their cases decided today to stop their hunger strike until October 22, protest participant Vagharshak Avetisyan's mother, Marine Badalyan said in a conversation with Epress.am.
“The [inmates] already have poor health. They decided to stop the hunger strike until next Thursday, to wait for the government response to our demands and decide what to do accordingly,” the inmate's mother said.
If the issue is not resolved, as stated by Badalyan, the relatives and the prisoners will consider the option of a collective hunger strike: “However, we'll talk about this more after [October 22].”
