Two Armenian military conscripts were killed Wednesday in floods caused by heavy rain, according to a statement issued by Armenia's Investigative Committee. Vardan K Ghrmajyan and Armen P Gazaryan, authorities said, were swept away by floodwaters at around 1am on Wednesday and found dead hours later not far from the unit they were serving in.
The official statement does not elaborate on the exact location of the incident, however, sources have told Epress.am that the young men were serving in a southern military unit of the Nagorno-Karabakh defense army.
The second garrison investigative unit is gathering information about the incident, authorities said.
