Aleksander Rutskoy, the 24-year-old soldier of the 102nd Russian military base stationed in Gyumri who was hospitalized with stab wounds on October 13, had sustained his injuries during a party with fellow servicemen, Armenia's Investigative Committee reported today.
According to preliminary data, officials said, Rutskoy was injured in a scuffle that broke out late on Thursday during a night out with fellow soldiers. He was soon rushed to the Gyumri Medical Center where he was diagnosed with non-penetrating trauma in the upper right abdomen and facial soft-tissue injuries.
The Committee added that authorities are currently discussing the issue of whether Armenia or Russia should investigate the case.
